Porridge: Rye

Rye is excellent to use as a grain for porridge. It can absorb 8 times the amount of water compared to wheat and so will help to keep you fuller for longer. Rye also has a very distinct flavour.


Serves 1


Ingredients:

25g oats

25g rye flakes

300ml almond milk

2tsp. maple syrup

1/2tsp cinnamon


To serve:

flaked almonds

milled flaxseed

frozen berries

linseeds


Method:

1). Place the oats, rye, milk, maple syrup and cinnamon into a saucepan and cook on a medium heat for 15 minutes or until the grains are cooked, stirring occasionally.

2). Top with frozen berries, almonds, linseeds and flaxseed.

3). Enjoy!
